About UsCampground HistoryThe original property, purchased by DC & Wilma Lanier in early 1975, lies along the mainland side of the intra-coastal waterway across from the Topsail Island town of Surf City, North Carolina. DC & Wilma along with "Granny", (DC's mother) and two of DC & Wilma's children, Wayne and Sandra all pitched in, and went about the task of creating a campground. The group worked feverishly on the property and by Labor Day, had established a bathhouse and 30 lots to rent. The swimming pool was added within two years Wilma & "Granny" have since retired, and Wayne has gone into business for himself. Sandra is still an integral part of the operation. In 1997, DC's daughter, Donna came to work at the campground, followed a year later by Sandra's husband, Lynn. Through the years the campground continued to expand to it's current size of approximately 400 campsites. The majority of the sites are filled with "Year-Round' resident, campers. Currently there are 44 lots available for overnight camping, including water & electric lots for tents, pop-ups & campers, and "Full Hook-up", (water, electric & sewer), suitable for large campers & RV's. Hurricane Fran in 1996 caused a lot of damage to the campground. However, rebuilding the campground afterwards, allowed us to upgrade most of the lots to 50 amp electric services, which gives our campers a little more flexibility in what modern conveniences, (such as TV's, Microwave ovens & Electric Skillets), they can take with them. "Skeeter's Grill", located in the lodge next to the game room, was opened during Easter weekend of 2000. Skeeter's Grill offers a full breakfast menu and sandwich menu for lunch
